Hey Friend, based on popular demand (and the weather), here are 3 of my go-to face masks for dry skin.
Dry skin can be super annoying. You can apply moisturizer and cream all day, and your skin seems to suck it up like nothing else. These three face mask for dry skin will deliver that moister and glow that your skin will love.
As we are spack dab in the middle of winter now, and it feels as if your skin could not be any dryer, these three hydrating face masks are perfect.
I think I can safely speak for most people’s skin when I say that your skin needs some extra love and moisture right about now.
Cold air generally tends to hold less moisture, which can cause dryness.
Dry skin is often worse during the winter, but dry skin can occur year-round. The temperature of your environment can affect your skin’s hydration or lack thereof.
Climates that lack humidity, like desert-like climates or cold climates with heavy wind, cause dry skin. clevelandclinic.org
Another thing to consider is that during those cold months, cranking up the heater can also dry out your skin.
It’s all about keeping hydrated for the perfect glow and happy skin.
A little tip: Along with loving your skin with these moisturizing face masks, remember that drinking plenty of water also does wonders for your skin.
Hydration, Hydration, Hydration!!
I am constantly in need of applying some moisturizer and lip balm. Almost to the point, I want to bathe in the stuff to relieve the dryness.
What is great about these hydrating face masks is that they have few ingredients, and the ingredients that they do have are all-natural and loaded with great health benefits.
Another reason I chose these specific moisturizing masks to share with you is that most of the ingredients you might already have on hand. My motto here is the simpler, the better.
So, let’s whip up some moisturizing face masks. After all, self-care is self-love, and when you need a quick and easy facial, this is it!
And to make it another win, there is nothing like saving on a great facial that you can do from the comfort of your bathroom.
Treating yourself to a spa day can be great, but when that is not possible, this will do the trick and work just as wonderfully.
Now, pull your hair up or put it back, light your favorite candle, get some relaxing music on, and get ready to settle in for a nice treat. Make this your “you time,” which I am sure is much deserved and overdue.
With no further ado, here are your three moisturizing face masks that are simple and that will do wonders for adding back some moisture to your skin.
First in our Moisturizing face Mask line is….
1 . Greek Yogurt Face Mask And Creamy Avocado:
This Greek Yogurt face mask is simple, with only three ingredients. Don’t let the fact that it only has three ingredients fool you, though. This is a perfect face mask for dry skin in that it packs a punch when it comes to moisturizing your face and giving you that beautiful glow.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 avocado
- 1/4 cup plain greek yogurt
- One tablespoon of honey (I recommend using manuka honey, but any honey will do the trick.)
- One teaspoon of turmeric.
Benefits:
Greek yogurt helps lock in that moisture that we so want and need. It also helps with skin brightness and brings out that natural glow and dewy look.
Another fantastic way that Greek Yogurt shows up for this mask is that the probiotics in the yogurt act as a natural skin toner, helping to even out skin tone.
Some research has shown that Greek yogurt may help create a free radical neutralizing barrier against the skin, reducing the risk of sun damage-induced age spots and wrinkles.
Avocados, with their fatty acids, help cleanse pores, moisturize deeply, and even give your skin a natural boost of antioxidants.
Avocadoes are also loaded with lecithin, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytosterols that help nourish you from the inside out, which makes them an excellent moisturizer for dry skin.
Another benefit of using avocado as an ingredient in your moisturizing face mask is that it also helps to promote collagen production, which helps to keep wrinkles at bay.
Honey has long been known for its natural skin benefits and can be used as an antibacterial agent to soothe irritation. It also contains antiseptic properties, which help fight free radicals that accelerate skin aging.
Tumeric can help reduce blemishes, bring out the glow we all so desire, has anti-aging properties, and
- Can help fade skin scars
- Brings out the glow
- Moisturises dry skin
How to prepare:
Mash the avocado in a small bowl, add the yogurt and honey, and mix well.
Apply to your face as well as your neck if you want. I like to include my neck, but it is entirely up to you.
Leave on for about a good 15 min and then rise off with warm water.
Avocados are naturally rich in antioxidants and hydrating vitamins E and C, making them perfect for dry skin. Both vitamins E and C help protect your skin from oxidative damage.
2. Honey, Milk, and Oatmeal Mask
This is a mask that does double duty, and that is why I picked it. It is an exfoliating mask AND a moisturizing face mask simultaneously.
I recommend exfoliating your skin about three times a week. This helps to keep your skin glow, brightness, soft, and smooth by buffing away and removing dead skin cells.
This mask also works great for all skin types, from dry to oily.
Ingredients:
Ingredients:
- Oats – 2 tbsp
- Honey – 1 tbsp
- Milk – 2 tbsp
Benefits: Moisturizes, smoothens texture, natural bleaching
How to prepare:
- Mix oats, honey, and milk to form a smooth paste.
- Apply to your face and neck.
- Leave on for 15-20 minutes.
- Rinse with warm water.
Why it works: Oatmeal is an occlusive agent to reduce water loss, and honey retains moisture, keeping the skin smooth. Milk provides moisturizing and nourishing effects, making this combination rejuvenating for all skin types. https://www.kamaayurveda.in/blog/oatmeal-face-pack
3. Avocado, Olive Oil, Honey, and Yogurt
Ingredients:
- One avocado
- Two tablespoons of plain Greek yogurt
- One tablespoon of olive oil
- One tablespoon honey
Benefits: Honey is naturally rich in antioxidants and is a natural exfoliator. It helps to remove dead skin cells, leaving your skin with a perfect glow. This is just one of the many benefits of honey.
I recommend using Manuka honey. It is more expensive but worth it if your budget allows. You can also use raw honey, which will work just as great and give you that lovely glow.
The olive oil will help keep your skin moist and hydrated. I suggest using cold-pressed olive oil; however, extra virgin olive oil is refined too. The Greek yogurt in this mask is a soothing ingredient that will leave your skin soft and hydrated.
How to prepare:
Mix all the ingredients in a small bowl. Once the ingredients are mixed well, apply the mask to a clean and dry face. Leave it on for about 10-15 min, then wipe it off using a warm washcloth.
These masks will leave your skin feeling clean, fresh, and hydrated. They should be a tool in your skincare toolbox and an excellent daily AM and PM moisturizer.
As always, from my heart, I am sending you positive vibes and happy thoughts.
