Keep reading to learn more about what makes each ingredient in this mask wonderful for your skin.

Turmeric

Turmeric has been dated back to 4000 in Idia where it is said to have originated. It is part of the ginger family which is also an amazing root with tons of health benefits itself. The beautiful bright color of turmeric comes from curcumin, the pigment that is found in the root.

Curcumin is the main component in turmeric that has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Why is this important you ask? Good question, both the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties in turmeric help give the skin its natural glow and luster. Who doesn’t want right?

Natural glow, yes, please!

Some studies have shown this super spice to positively affect tissue and collagen and help even out skin tone making it a great skin toner. The anti-inflammatory properties found in the root can also help with acne scarring by targeting the pores and calming the skin making this a wonderful acne face mask as well.

Curcumin to the rescue again, because curcumin helps reduce inflammation and oxidation it helps wounds to heal faster. For those of you who have acne scars, this is wonderful.

Second Runner Up…Honey

How long has honey been around is hard to say. Some records from caves found in Spain around 7000BC have mentioned the use of honey. There also have been honey bee fossils dating back about 150 million years.

Basically you all, honey has been around a really long time. That being said let’s get into the good stuff about honey and why we are putting it in our mask.

Honey and yogurt face mask, DYI face mask

Honey is the second ingredient in this mask. Raw honey is key and can be very beneficial if you suffer from acne or eczema because it helps balance the bacteria on your skin.

Using Manuka honey as an anti-acne product is extremely effective. Raw honey helps your skin cells heal faster and reduce inflammation sort of like turmeric. It is also a great skin exfoliator helping to create that natural glow in your skin by removing dead skin cells and exposing the new healthy skin underneath.

Removing the dead layer of skin cells is what helps with skin brightening and creates natural glowing skin we all love.

Yogurt is our last runner-up!

As if our Turmeric and Honey Mask were not enough on its own adding yogurt and more specifically greek yogurt gives it that extra punch I was talking about.

Now if you just wanted to make a turmeric mask or turmeric and honey mask those are both wonderful masks on their own. However, adding the yogurt to your mask will help add some more yumminess to your skin.

Here is why adding greek yogurt to your mask gives it that extra edge. Greek yogurt contains lactic acid which tightens the skin and shrinks pores helping reduce those fine lines and wrinkle we may have. Like honey, yogurt is also an exfoliant. Yeah for yogurt!

Yogurt, like honey, is an exfoliant it helps brighten. Adding yogurt to this mask helps take your skin from looking dry and dull to looking bright and feeling moist. Let’s not forget the rich vitamins that are found in greek yogurt that make this added ingredient in our mask fabulous.

Vitamin B and riboflavin are both found in greek yogurt which helps the skin glow, hydrated and, helps in cell growth and rejuvenates the skin. Greek yogurt acts as a moisturizer and hydrate in one.

One really great thing about yogurt is that it can go both ways in the sense that not only does it moisturize so it’s wonderful for dry skin but it is also great for oily skin. Zinc that is naturally found in greek yogurt helps to act as an astringent and helps regulate oil production. So if you have oily skin, dry skin, or are a mix of both adding greek yogurt to your mask will be highly beneficial to your skin.

Turmeric Face Mask:

  1. Wash your face so that you are starting with a nice clean face and dry skin.
  2. Start by adding one teaspoon of Raw Honey and one teaspoon of powdered turmeric.
  3. Mix till you get a paste and apply to your face avoiding the eys.
  4. Leave the mixture on for about 10-15 min and rinse off with a warm cloth.

Second Mask: adding Honey and Yogurt to your DYI Turmeric face mask you get a trip home run

  1. Start by adding one teaspoon of Raw Honey and one teaspoon of powdered turmeric and form a paste.
  2. Next, add one tablespoon of plain greek yogurt to the paste and mix.
  3. Apply the mixture to your face and leave it on for about 10-15 min before rinsing off with a warm cloth.

FYI, disclaimer whatever you want to call it. Turmeric, as much as I love it, its beautiful and bright color can be hard to get out of hands and clothes so just be mindful of that when using it. Small tip.

From my heart to yours, I hope you enjoy and get to unwind a bit with this mask.
